Roller Blinds

Use a lighter colour (white, beige, light grey etc.) to maximise your space. Roller blinds are a prime choice as you’re able to manage the light, meaning that you can manipulate your space, without having to manipulate your budget too.

Taylor Blinds & Shutters guarantees its workmanship and quality of materials used, save for fair wear and tear and provided a proper and acceptable manner of use and method of cleaning is maintained, as follows:

  • All aluminium components for a period of 5 (FIVE) years, excluding defects caused by mechanical damage
  • The workmanship of Taylor Blinds & Shutters for a period of 1 (ONE) year from date of installation
  • Standard specialised solar fabrics for a period of 5 (FIVE) years from date of installation, subject to the conditions prescribed by the manufacturer
  • Tubular motors for a period of 5 (FIVE) years from date of installation, subject to the conditions prescribed by the manufacturer.

Notwithstanding the aforesaid, no guarantee or warranty of any nature whatsoever, including that for workmanship or material supplied, shall apply should all amounts payable not be paid following completion of installation of any product sold.

We recommend using a darker colour screen, which will reduce incoming sunlight, glare and you don’t lose the pretty view either.

You might also like a Block Out option, which eliminates all sunlight when closed. Our double roller blinds are an equally aesthetic choice for play with natural light.

Choose a lighter or natural textured screen fabric with an openness factor of 5% or lower.

Screen fabrics are the ideal product, as they keep heat out on hot summer days, but they can also trap heat when the weather turns a little bit cooler.

Look for high-reflecting fabrics in cream and iron-grey under our screen selection.

All of our Taylor products offer UV protection, but our roller blinds are embedded with a UV protective fabric.

Much like silk, you should never machine wash your fabric blinds. Instead, use a steam cleaner or a damp cloth on Taylor products. View our comprehensive cleaning and care guide here

Most of the Taylor materials are compliant with REACH guidelines. Take a look at our blinds boasting an Oeko-tex or Greenguard certification, such as the München Block Out.

For infants and toddlers who require an uninterrupted night’s sleep, peruse our Block Out blinds selection. For younger kids, it will be privacy that you’ll be wanting. Our Dim Out and Block Out fabrics in the roller or Venetian blinds are tailor-made for this.
Have a look at the 50mm wood offering.

While Taylor doesn’t currently offer recycled roller blind fabric, we do take care to source from fabric manufacturers who have a low carbon footprint.

We like to take the environment into consideration too. Instead of endlessly using an aircon or heater, we encourage you to lower your blinds during the day. So, regardless of the season, you can conserve the heat in or keep it out.

Unconventional windows require extraordinary shutters.

Our Timber Shutters can be custom-made to suit the arches, circles, half circles and triangles in your space.

When light filtering and screen roller blinds are lowered during the day, your space will have total discretion.

Privacy: 1. Peeping Toms: 0.

The reverse happens in the evenings with light filtering and screen blinds.

Please check that your privacy is to your needs. Dim out and block out fabrics are the popular choice for people who like to entertain in the evenings. The weaving is tighter, which significantly reduces the openness factor, meaning light from inside can’t be viewed by the outside.

All of these can withstand hot, humid, moist environments that are typical to your bathroom:

  • Styro wood blinds
  • Aluminium blinds
  • Timber shutters
  • Hurricane and ShutterGuard® shutters
  • Certain water-resistant fabrics, like the B-range, München, PVC are ideal for moist areas

Opt in for screen fabrics with a low openness factor, like our Block Out, Dim Out and screen fabrics.

All of Taylor blinds are suitable to be operated multiple times a day. If you’re not into doing all the arm reps, you could motorize your roller blinds with us.

Certain blinds are recyclable, but you will need to check on the product itself.

When moving homes seems too drastic an option, please speak to your sales representative and request a “stopper”. You can affix to the bottom bar to the side of the door or the window opening to avoid the billowing wind and the irritating banging sound.

You’d need to keep your roller blinds down to optimize the elimination of an echo. We suggest you opt for a thicker roller blind option: dim out, or block out fabrics, as the weave is much tighter, allowing both less light and sound into the room or allowing it to bounce less in the room.

Warranty

We have a network of agents and installation specialists who have been given rigorous training to ensure that your shutter or blind installation is seamless. Whether it is blinds or shutters, they will adhere to our high standards of workmanship. We pride ourselves on our service - from measurement through to manufacturing, installation and after sales service. In order for your warranty to be effective, you do need to have a professional installer carry out the installation

It depends on the product you have ordered. We custom-make all the products in our 8000m2 purpose-built factory and our production for the delivery of window blinds is one week from order placed and deposit received, whereas for shutters the turnaround time is two weeks from order placed and deposit received.

Upon approval of the order, a 50% deposit is required. Once received, the work begins. The balance can be paid upon installation.

Part of the after-sales service includes replacing cords if the break falls under the warranty terms and conditions. However, our cords are of a very high quality and would need to be replaced by a certified Taylor installer

Simply call or email Taylor and we send a representative to assess the problem. If the product is still under warranty – refer to our Terms & Conditions – we will repair it.

Shutters

Yes, we do, and you have a choice of three options.

Our new Timber Wood Shutters are offered in an external application - we use a special UV varnish on the wood as well as use a coconut-based lacquer to nourish the wood from the weather elements it can face.

Our Hurricane Aluminium Shutters are ideal for external use and protect windows and glass doors from extreme weather conditions. They are made from 100% aluminium so will not rust and are easy to maintain.

ShutterGuard® Security Shutters go one step further by merging the style of aluminium shutters with extra security with our patented Gear-lock system and the louvre lock pin that secures the closed louvre panels, an additional security feature, making these shutters virtually impenetrable and burglar-proof.

Our Thermowood® shutters are manufactured from a durable, specially engineered wood substitute – extruded PVC – that has been thoroughly tested under stringent humid, hot and dry conditions to ensure longevity. It is impervious to moisture, fire-resistant and easy to clean and will not crack, split or warp. And although excellent at controlling light, heat and noise, they are not security shutters and therefore not burglar-proof. If you are looking for indoor shutters for security, your best option would be the ShutterGuard® Aluminium Security Shutters.

Our ShutterGuard® Security Shutters combine the art of security and style: they are made from aluminium, have a Gear-locking system that includes a locking pin to secure the louvres, making them virtually impenetrable and burglar-proof.

The Hurricane Aluminium Shutters are designed to protect doors and windows from bad weather. They are more secure than Thermowood® but are not security shutters.

Yes! Our Timber Wood Shutters are made from pure timber and can be used in both internal and external applications. You can colour match your Timber Wood Shutters to suit your home's style. All we would need is your chosen colour finish (in a Plascon or Dulux paint or a sample of any wood currently in your home).

Our Thermowood® Shutters are manufactured from a durable, specially engineered wood substitute – extruded PVC – they look like wood but are more durable and won’t crack, split or warp, are impervious to moisture, fire-resistant, easy to clean and give excellent control of light, noise and temperature.

It really depends on your requirements and we’re here to give expert advice.

Thermowood® – a specially engineered wood substitute – will never peel, crack, warp, burn or discolour – they are for functional use only and not a security solution.

Timber Wood Shutters are ideal for those wanting a natural wood product either indoors or outdoors. This, too, is not a security shutter.

Hurricane Aluminium Shutters protect windows and doors against weather and can be used externally. Made from 100% aluminium they will not rust.

If you are looking for stylish shutters that offer security then ShutterGuard® Aluminium Security Shutters is the answer – made from aluminium they have a patented 3-way locking system that makes them virtually impenetrable and burglar-proof.

Fitting

All our shutters are made specifically for each client to ensure a perfect fit. Thermowood® Shutters are available in standard colours : Satin White, Magnolia, Lime Wash, Alu White, Holland, Smoke. We do not offer custom made colours for Thermowood®.

ShutterGuard® Aluminium Security Shutters and Hurricane Shutters come standard in white and dark bronze. However, if you wish to have these colour-coded to match or complement your existing wall colour or décor, this can be arranged with a matte finish (not gloss). This does come at a surcharge.

Certainly! We will work on a solution with you. This could include us attaching the bottom track onto your carpet or cutting the carpet to accommodate the shutter.

No, Durador® offers a simple, easy to operate, 4-point locking system vs. a 1 locking point. We believe it is a safer option as you cannot lock yourself out.

Absolutely! We will come out armed with our product books to evaluate your requirements, show you our solutions, measure, advise and provide a quote. All of this is without any obligation.

Taylor has a service department that handles these queries. Please email customercare@taylorblinds.co.za to report the problem or concern and we will arrange to meet with you to assess the situation and find a solution.

We offer a wide selection of colours for all our window blinds but these can be customised for you. Our ShutterGuard® Aluminium Security Shutters and Hurricane Shutters are also offered in a matt finish, in a colour of your choice. However, our Thermowood® Shutters and Durador® are only available in the standard colours.
